Kitende storms final of the Zonal CAF African Schools Championship

The two victories extend their impressive run after initially beating Somalia and Burundi 3-0 and 2-0, respectively, on Monday.

Ugandan schools' football kingpins St. Mary's Secondary School, Kitende (SMASK), hit the final of the CECAFA Zonal CAF African Schools Championship.

The team, holding Uganda's flag, beat both Tanzania and Kenya on Tuesday at the Kasarani Stadium to book a spot in the final.

In their first game on the day, SMASK edged Tanzania 1-0, courtesy of a Simon Wanyama sole goal.

The youngster was yet again the hero as his brace guided Team Uganda to a narrow 2-1 victory over the host, Kenya, later on.

The two victories extend their impressive run after initially beating Somalia and Burundi 3-0 and 2-0, respectively, on Monday.

Kitende has now scored eight goals in four matches, conceding just one, with Wanyama the leading scorer with five strikes.

Following the win, Kitende will take on Team Rwanda later on Wednesday at Kasarani in the final.

It should be noted that the CECAFA Zonal CAF African Schools Championship entails U15 boys and girls.

In the girls' category, Uganda's representatives, Kawempe Muslim SS, thrashed Rwanda 3-0 thanks to goals from Lydia Namaseruka, Shadiah Nabirye and Tracy Nabatanzi.
