The hosts thought they had a good chance to open the scoring after Solomon March was brought down in the box, with referee England Darren initially pointing to the spot.
However, after a VAR check, Darren overturned his decision and the penalty was ruled out following an infringement.

Cody Gakpo came close again to pulling a goal back for the Reds in the 80th minute as Liverpool were desperate for a goal, only to see his effort saved by Robert Sanchez.
However, Brighton would have cause to celebrate once more as second half substitute Danny Welbeck fired home in the 81st minute to complete the hammering.
In the end, Brighton recorded a high 3-0 win against a Liverpool side that looked far from their usual best on Saturday night at the Amex Stadium.
