Kubu returns for the first time since getting injured before Simbas took part in the 2023 World Cup qualifying repechage in Dubai
Kenya Simbas head coach Jerome Paarwater has decided to recall Fijian-born fly half Jone Kubu to the lineup ahead of their clash against Zimbabwe Goshawks on Saturday, May 20 at the Nakuru Athletics Club.
The team arrived back in Nairobi on Monday 15th May following their Currie Cup First Division campaign in South Africa where they took part in three matches and in Namibia.
Their first assignment on home soil has seen the return of Jone Kubu, Eugene Sifuna, and Bryceson Adaka and the inclusion of Lameck Ambetsa.
“I am very excited to be back in training with the boys and eagerly looking forward to playing against Zimbabwe tomorrow,” Kubu said.

Simbas have played six matches so far and have only managed one win while Zimbabwe have lost six of their matches.
“Last year it was a bit challenging for us to beat them despite the narrow loss in South Africa. We have since then worked on what went wrong and the training this week has helped in improving our plays,” he added.
Ephraim Oduor, Griffin Musila and Hillary Mwanjilwa will form the front row. Brian Juma and Hilary Odhiambo will pair up as the locks while Captain George Nyambua, Brian Ndirangu and Jeanson Misoga marshal the back row.

Kenya will be banking on the quality of their squad as they eye the continental title amid stiff competition from South Africa.
Samuel Asati retains his starting position as the scrumhalf, he will be linking the forwards with the backs. Jone Kubu will start at flyhalf, Peter Kilonzo and Joel Inzuga as center pairings while Alfred Orege, Beldad Ogeta and Ntabeni Dukisa form the back three.
There is a five-three split in the reserves, Eugene Sifuna, Thomas Okidia, Wilhite Mususi, Hibrahim Ayoo and Elkeans Musonye in the forwards while Brian Wahinya, Bryceson Adaka and Lameck Ambetsa in the backs.
