Hansi Flick's Barcelona put up a dominant display to defeat Girona 4-1 and restore their 3-point lead at the summit of LaLiga.

Robert Lewandowski scored a brace to take his tally to 40 goals for the season across all competitions as Barcelona ran out 4-1 winners against Girona.

After Real Madrid defeated Leganes 3-2 last night, Barcelona had to respond to restore their 3-point advantage at the top of the table.

Girona are no easy opponents but it was obvious from the first whistle that the hosts had one thing in mind, to attack and win at all costs.

Ronald Araújo's header from a corner was palmed away by Gazzaniga in the 21st minute. However, just before halftime, Ladislav Krejčí diverted a Lamine Yamal free kick into his own net to give Barcelona the lead.

Girona surprisingly drew level eight minutes into the second half, with Arnaut Danjuma beating Araújo for pace and firing into the net. But Barcelona rallied, and Lewandowski restored their lead just after the hour mark, directing a header under Gazzaniga.

The Polish striker sealed the win with a clinical finish in the 75th minute, before Ferran Torres added a fourth goal to complete the scoring. The win keeps Barcelona in prime position to claim their 28th LaLiga title, while Girona will look to bounce back from a disappointing defeat.
