Barcelona sought redemption against Girona, who had inflicted two humiliating 4-2 defeats on them last season. The Blaugrana came out with a fiery determination, and their intensity began to pay off around the half-hour mark.
Lamine Yamal, the prodigious youngster, dispossessed David Lopez with ease and riffled the ball past Paulo Gazzaniga from close range. Barcelona's momentum continued, and Yamal doubled his tally within seven minutes, curling a sublime effort from 25 yards after the ball fell kindly into his path from a freekick.
