The Inter captain had started on the bench but made a significant impact when introduced in the second half, alongside Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes, who provided the assist for El Toro's decisive goal.

Scaloni acknowledged Martinez's frustration at not starting, saying, "He won't be happy with me, and he is surely right because he wants to play, but this is what he has to do. We may or may not make errors, but we thought the team had to play like this, and we won."

Martinez has had an unforgettable season, becoming the leading scorer in Serie A and Copa America, winning the Scudetto with Inter, and now adding the Copa America title with his national team. His impressive form has earned him recognition as one of the top players in the world.
