Delta Queens host Bayelsa Queens in Asaba as second stanza resumes action
The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) will resume action for the second stanza of the league on Wednesday after a mid-season break.
The league took a break after matchday seven to allow for mid-season transfers, which were between January 23 and February 3.
Delta Queens host Bayelsa Queens in Asaba
The league leader, Delta Queens, will host the defending champion, Bayelsa Queens, on matchday eight at the Asaba township stadium in Delta State.
The Asaba-based side is the only one with an unbeaten run, with a record of five wins and a draw in six games, scoring 11 goals and conceding just twice.
With 16 points, Delta Queens takes a five-point lead over Bayelsa Queens at the top of Group A.
The head coach of the Delta Queens, Tosan Blankson, revealed that his team will win the league unbeaten.
He said, “The win against Bayelsa Queens is expected, like I said in a previous interview, the Queens from Delta do not have away from home, in their matches.
“Every match they play is a Cup final, a mentality they! have built for themselves. The fine run started right after the Super Six. The team-building process is excellent. The Sheroes Cup in Abuja was all the team needed to fine-tune their build-up to the season.
Heartland Queens travels to Osun
Heartland Queens are targeted to pick up maximum points when they travel to Osogbo Township Stadium in Osogbo, Osun State, for a clash against the Osun Babes.
The Owerri Landladies defeated the Omoluabi Babes 2-0 in the first leg and will be looking to build on that win for the second leg.
Lucky Mary and Chizoba Orji's goals were all that the Heartland Queens needed to defeat the Osun Babes.
Other Fixtures
Rivers Angels will host Royal Queens at the University of Port Harcourt, while Robo Queens travel to Adamawa for a date with Adamawa Queens.
Nasarawa Amazons will be going to Aba for a clash against the Abia Angels.
