The Peacocks are set to battle fellow Premier League rivals Bournemouth in the race to sign the 23-year-old.
Leeds United have made a last-minute move to sign Italy international Nicolo Zaniolo from AS Roma.
Zaniolo has been linked with a move away from Roma after the 23-year-old requested a move away from the club.
Leeds to battle Bournemouth for Zaniolo
Bournemouth currently lead the race to sign the Italy international, but The Cherries could now face a battle from Leeds, who have joined the race.
According to reports from Get Italian Football News (GIFN), Leeds see Zaniolo as a potential replacement for Jack Harrison, who is on his way to Leicester City.
The Peacocks have already contacted Roma over a potential deal before the transfer window shuts at 11:00 PM.
Roma are open to letting Zaniolo leave as long as clubs interested meet their valuation. The capital club will sell the Italy star for a fee in the region of €40 million.
Roma ready to let Zaniolo leave
While Bournemouth did meet Roma’s valuation for the 23-year-old, Zaniolo rejected the chance to join The Cherries as he only wants a top European club.
However, AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are the only top European clubs interested in the Italy international, but they are not prepared to meet Roma’s valuation.
It now remains to be seen if Zaniolo will accept Leeds’ offer, should The Peacock reach an agreement with Roma.
Zaniolo is facing a race against time to find a new club as he has been banned from Roma’s first-team squad after excusing himself from selection.
With less than 24 hours before the winter transfer window shuts, he is running out of options.
Roma have already confirmed that he would not play for the club again this season. Zaniolo’s contract with the club expires in 2024.
