Former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has been hired as coach of Napoli but has a steep task ahead oh him

Former AC Milan and Real manager Fabio Capello has identified problems that incoming Napoli boss Antonio Conte will face when he assumes the post of Partnopei head coach.

Conte has agreed to a three-year deal to become Napoli manager after a season of turmoil at the former Serie A champions and despite his impressive record in Italy with Juventus and Inter, Capello still believes that the former Chelsea boss still has a lot of work to do if he is to succeed in Naples.

Capello advises Conte on Napoli strategy

Speaking in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb, the former England and Juventus manager spared a thought for the incoming Napoli manager saying, “Conte needs to wake up the players who were resting on their laurels and this is the most interesting situation.

“Conte will give them that aggression, the hunger to win and be protagonists. I think Conte is the right man to take Napoli back to the top.”

Capello identifies problems for Conte

Despite his confidence in Conte, Capello pointed out some areas where the new manager could struggle saying, “However, he could have difficulty co-existing with [Napoli President Aurelio] De Laurentiis and that is the most important issue they face.”

A key part of the issues he could face with De Laurentiis will be the sale of key players like Victor Osimhen, and Capello was wary about how Napoli will cope without their best players, adding, “You can be the best coach in the world, but if you don’t have the players… For example, the Champions League Final this year, Borussia Dortmund had three big chances to score, but would it have still been 0-0 had Real Madrid been given those opportunities? So all predictions depend on the players they have at their disposal.”

Conte could find Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo gone from the club when the 2024/25 season starts, with all three players linked to summer moves out of Naples.
