Mike Dean has called time on a 28-year Premier League career, leaving the PGMOL with immediate effect.
The Premier League will be without the legendary official, Mike Dean next season, as the 55-year-old has decided to call time on a successful refereeing career.
Mike Dean quits Premier League
Dean spent last season as a VAR after stepping away from on-field refereeing duties. He was also tasked with coaching younger referees and preparing them for the rigours of life as a PL referee.
Dean began his officiating career in 1985 and quickly became one of the best in the business, rising to the very top of the refereeing rankings.
After being promoted to the Premier League in 2000, he oversaw more than 550 matches before retiring in 2022.
PGMOL statement
In a statement, the Premier League’s refereeing body said on Saturday: "PGMOL would like to place on record its recognition of Mike’s achievements as well as his immense contribution to refereeing and the game as a whole.
"We thank him for his dedication to the organisation over a sustained period of time and wish him every success for the future."
