Kelechi Iheanacho scored one and assisted two goals for Leicester City in 4-2 win against Aston Villa
Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho is earning the plaudits of his teammates for his impressive display against Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Nigerian international scored a goal and assisted two more to help Leicester City beat Aston Villa 4-2 away from home.
One of the recipients of the assist, James Maddison has praised Iheanacho for his unselfishness in setting him up for what was the equaliser.
Maddison hails Iheanacho
English international Maddison commented on Iheanacho's role in his goal and thanked the Nigerian for his unselfishness.
“Dewsbury-Hall put in a brilliant tackle. He didn’t even know the guy actually turned, initially,” Maddison told LCFC in explanation of his goal.
“He stayed at it, stayed pressing, got a little toe in. It fell to Kel (Kelechi Iheanacho), who was then unselfish. I don’t think he wanted to pass it, he wanted to shoot, I could see in his eyes," Maddison continued.
“But the goodness in his heart told him to lay off for me. I actually felt the defender behind me. So, I didn’t want to actually just put it in first time because I thought it was going to get blocked, which is why I kind of dummied and let it run through my legs and put it on my left foot," Maddison rounded up.
Maddison's goal was the equaliser after Ollie Watkins had given Aston Villa the lead but defender Harry Souttar scored an own goal to give Villa the lead again.
Iheanacho then took matters into his own hands by heading home the equaliser and then setting up Tete with a lovely through ball to make it 3-2 to the visitors.
Belgian midfielder Denis Praet scored the final goal for Leicester City later on to round up a 4-2 win and Iheanacho was named man of the match.
