Former Rangers star Derek Ferguson has advised his former club to move on from Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun.
The 36-year-old returned to Hampden Park in the summer of 2023, signing a one-year contract with the Rangers and was later extended for another year before the end of the previous season.
The defender has made more appearances this season than all of last season and has made 12 starts for Barry Ferguson’s side.
However, one of his issues is his injury reoccurrence, which has affected his performance as he nears the end of his career.

Ferguson warns Rangers
Derek Ferguson has warned Barry Ferguson’s side against renewing Leon Balogun’s contract.
)
In an interview with Ibrox News, he said, “I think he’ll be off. He’s done terrifically well since coming back in, but he’s 36 and injury-prone.
“He’s a good player, but is he someone Rangers should be looking to tie down? No. He’s done well across two spells, but no, it’s time for Leon to look elsewhere.

“Rangers will need to look for a younger version of Balogun – a player with pace, power and good in the air. Leon is just too fragile.”
Leon Balogun, potentially in his final season, will be fighting hard to secure his first European trophy.
