Gor Mahia unveiled Brazilian coach Leonardo Martins Neiva to replace the departed Johnathan McKinstry and here is everything you need to know about the 46-year-old.
Leonardo Martins Neiva is the latest Brazilian coach to take over at Gor Mahia as the record Kenyan champions bid to continue their local supremacy while looking for an impact on the continent.
Neiva is the fourth Brazilian tactician at Gor Mahia in the last eight years after Jose Marcelo Ferreira aka Ze Maria, Roberto Oliveira Goncalves aka Robertinho, and Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto.
From the aforementioned, only Ze Maria came close to success at Gor Mahia, keeping them in the title race in 2016, winning the FKF Shield as well as SportPesa Super Cup, having implemented the Brazilian style of play that put an emphasis on short passes.

He handled clubs in Brazil, Myanmar and Jamaica but it is his stint in Africa that would have attracted K’Ogalo to him.

Gor Mahia midfielder Austin Odhiambo has revealed how Johnathan McKinstry helped unlock his potential.
Neiva’s first job on the continent was in South Africa when he took over Platinum Stars in 2008 but lasted just one year before returning home to coach Bonsucesso. That was followed by a two-year stint in Myanmar before he returned to Brazil again to coach Associacao Atletica Francana.
In 2014, he was appointed coach of Tanzanian giants Yanga and while he lasted just one season, he led the club to the league title as well as the Super Cup.
He then headed to Jamaica to handle Montego Bay FC who he led to the league crown in the 2015-16 season.

Neiva’s international experience expanded further with short stints at Yadanarborn and the now-defunct Thai Honda FC between 2016 and 2017.
In 2019, he returned to Brazil with Clube Atletico Itapemirim for a season before being appointed head coach for the Saint Kitts and Nevis senior men's national team.
His most recent position in Africa was with Ugandan Premier League side Vipers SC where he last just six months.
