AFC Leopards captain Eugine ‘Giovanni’ Mukangula has explained the reasons behind why he has lost a lot of weight in recent months.
The left-footed midfielder had become the talking point of neutrals, fans and journalists alike, questioning why a top flight footballer looked so overweight in recent times. Several ludicrous claims were made by different people, including the use of “supplements”
Speaking to Pulse Sports, Mukangula revealed the real reasons behind why he had gained so much body mass in the first place.

“ I was practicing a lot of bad habits,” he said." There are things I used to do, especially in the off-season, that were not good at all,” he added.
“Most times during the off season,I used to relax and barely did anything physical. At the same time, I was eating too much junk food. Pizzas, Chapatis—you name it—- without setting a limit for myself.
“ By the time pre-season comes, you are having to play catch-up and as a result, barely getting any minutes. I decided to seek help, and I managed to go through it.”
The Leopards number 19 revealed what he did in order to reduce his weight, expressing the “pain” he had to go through.
