Sumary: Chelle is expected to arrive in Nigeria no later than Monday morning and will begin his duties as Super Eagles coach immediately upon arrival.

Eric Chelle is poised to begin his tenure as the Super Eagles head coach next week following his departure from Algerian club MC Oran.

Sources in Algeria have confirmed that Chelle's contract with MC Oran included a clause permitting him to leave if offered a national team position.

Chelle's final match with MC Oran saw them secure a 1-0 victory against Ittihad Setif in the Algerian Cup. Merouane Dahar scored the decisive goal from a penalty in the 51st minute.

The win helped Oran into the Round of 16. Chelle's record at MC Oran concludes with six wins, two draws, and five losses in 13 matches. He will not be in the dugout for their next match against the same opponent.

Eric Chelle was appointed as MC Oran's boss in October 2024, signing until 2026.

Following the cup match, Chelle met with MC Oran management to finalise his move to the Super Eagles. It has been reported that MC Oran is requiring Chelle to repay a three-month advance due to the early termination of his contract, as stipulated.

Chelle ready for Super Eagles assignment

During the post-match press conference, Chelle expressed his best wishes to the club and revealed that the management had attempted to persuade him to stay.

However, he described the Super Eagles job as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

He stated, “This is my last meeting with you, and it marks the end of my adventure here. From Monday, I will be in Nigeria to start a new chapter.”

He also acknowledged the club's efforts to retain him, saying, “The MCO officials insisted that I continue, but one cannot refuse to lead one of the best teams in Africa and the world,” as reported by Fennec Football.

Chelle is expected to arrive in Nigeria no later than Monday morning and will begin his duties as Super Eagles coach immediately upon arrival.
