Libya received severe sanctions from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after they detained Nigeria's Super Eagles at Al Abraq International Airport.

The Libyan national team is meticulously preparing for their fifth qualifying match against Rwanda for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Libya was penalised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after Nigeria's Super Eagles were detained at the Al Abraq International Airport.

CAF awarded Nigeria three points and three goals after Libya's rules violation, and the football federation was also fined $50,000.

Currently, Libya is at the bottom of Group D, with just one point from four matches, making their chances of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco next year slim.

Libya Al Ahrar TV reports that the 25-man squad, under head coach Nasser Al-Hadhiri, flew to Kigali on Monday, three days ahead of the match at Amahoro Stadium.

Al-Hadhiri has adjusted the initial squad, adding Al Olympi defender Moatasem Sabou and Al-Tahadi striker Farhad Al-Masmari for added depth.

The team was originally set to start training in Benghazi two weeks before the match, but this was delayed due to the Omar Al-Mukhtar Friendly Championship, which was won by Al Hilal, as noted by Al-Awwan.
