The partnership aims at equipping upcoming football players not just with football skills and equipment, but academic resources
The highly-anticipated 2023 Ligi East Africa tournament set to take place on August 17 and 18 at the Nairobi Polo Club has teamed up with the America's Woburn Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) to launch the Boots and Books programme.
The programme aims at fostering international collaboration not just in sports, but also academic excellence. In an unprecedented move, the tournament, a groundbreaking initiative, will aim to bring together children from Kenya and the USA to enhance soccer skills and academic prowess.
Under this programme, children from WYSA will donate gently-used books and outgrown soccer boots, which will then be distributed to participants of the tournament.
This innovative approach will help facilitate access to educational resources, as well as foster children’s passion for soccer.
