Liverpool eased to a comfortable 5-1 win against West Ham at Anfield to secure safe passage to the EFL Cup semi-final.

Liverpool have booked a spot in the final four of the EFL Cup with a resounding 5-1 win against fellow Premier League club West Ham in what was a dominant display at Anfield.

A brace from Curtis Jones along with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah constituted a terrible evening for West Ham.

Jarrod Bowen did get one back for the Hammers but it was a mere consolation as they crashed out while Liverpool advanced to join Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Fulham in the next round.

Liverpool 5-1 West Ham

The first half was as competitive as one would expect from a clash of two top Premier League teams but Liverpool still found a way in the 28th minute when Szoboszlai fired home from long range to open the scoring.

West Ham continued to push for an equaliser but their resolve was broken in the 56th minute when Curtis Jones squeezed the ball past Alphonse Areola's near post from a seemingly impossible angle.

Liverpool put the game well out of West Ham's reach with a third goal in the 71st minute, Cody Gakpo finishing well from the edge of the box after some superb work in the buildup by Ibrahima Konate.

Jarrod Bowen pulled one back for West Ham shortly after but it was followed by two more Liverpool goals with Mo Salah getting in on the act and Jones netting his second on the night to seal the 5-1 win.

Jurgen Klopp's men will now have to wait to see who their semi-final opponents will be with Chelsea, Fulham and Middlesbrough all waiting.
