Egyptian football icon Mohamed Salah has revealed the inspiration behind his latest celebration after thrilling Premier League fans at the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Salah debuts new celebration
The Liverpool legend first showed fans the new celebration when he scored Liverpool’s second goal in a 2-0 win over Ipswich on the opening day of the 2024/25 campaign.
Salah kept up his incredible record of scoring on the opening day of the Premier League, netting his ninth goal in eight game week one fixtures since joining Liverpool, and celebrated the feat by aiming and firing a fictional arrow into the Liverpool supporters.
Salah repeated the celebration when he netted in Liverpool’s second league game of the season to seal a 2-0 win over Brentford at Anfield.
Salah reveals celebration inspiration
With Salah’s new celebration catching fans’ attention, the Egyptian star has now disclosed where he got the idea for the arrow stunt, admitting he copied it from Nigerian-New Zealander and MMA great Israel Adesanya.
Speaking in a recent interview, Salah opened up about his new celebration saying, “I was watching the UFC, Pereira against Adesanya. When Adesanya won the second fight, he celebrated like that. I liked that celebration and that's why I did it.”
Fans will be hoping to see more of Salah’s celebration when Liverpool lock horns with Manchester United in their next Premier League encounter.
