Despite his fame on Merseyside, Rush would have made some enemies after his latest declaration, where he pitched his tent with Liverpool’s fierce rivals as the favourites for this season’s UCL title.
The former Liverpool and Juventus striker was speaking after the recent UCL group stage draw, which did not contain the Reds, who dropped to the Europa League places this year after finishing outside the top four in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Rush, who was Liverpool’s top scorer in eight separate seasons, backed Manchester City to win the UCL and was quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport as saying, “I think Manchester City are still the favourite. They are the defending champions, they’ve brought reinforcements and are surely the strongest.”
