Liverpool are reportedly keen on a summer transfer for the Super Eagles forward who a former player says is "a lot like Sadio Mane"
Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly lining up a move for a Super Eagles forward who former player Alberto Moreno has likened to ex-Reds winger Sadio Mane who left the club at the start of the season for Bayern Munich.
Moreno likens Chukwueze to Mane after playing with both
Moreno, who played alongside Mane during his five-year stay at Liverpool, says he sees similarities between the Senegalese superstar and one of his current teammates at Villarreal, Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze.
The Spanish fullback told Marca, "He's super incisive, fast; you never know where he's going to go.
"He's strong too, young, and defined. He's a lot like Sadio Mane. I've seen the two in training and they're very similar.
"He has a lot to learn because he's very young, but he'll become an even better player than he is [now].”
Liverpool face stiff competition for Chukwueze
Liverpool are set for a summer of transfer activities as they look to bolster their squad following a disappointing 2022/23 season that has seen them struggle to remain in contention for a European qualification spot, while also getting knocked out of domestic and European cup competitions earlier than usual.
One of the many players Liverpool are looking at to improve their squad is Chukwueze, who has been in superb form for Villarreal this season.
He has scored 13 goals and assisted 11 more in all competitions for the Yellow Submarine and caught the attention of a number of clubs with a virtuoso performance at the Bernabeu in a 3-2 win over Real Madrid, where he scored a brace.
Liverpool might be tempted to go for the Super Eagles ace, but will face stiff competition from other clubs like Real Madrid and Arsenal who are also thought to be interested in the winger.
