Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is happy for Arsenal and their faith in Arteta's process
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s process which has led the Gunners to the top of the Premier League table and on the brink of a first league title since 2004.
Arsenal have amassed 72 points from 29 games in the Premier League this season, and sit in first, seven places and 29 points above Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s clash at Anfield.
Klopp has been where Arteta currently is, after winning the 2019/20 Premier League season in his fifth season as Liverpool manager.
Klopp in awe of Arsenal’s style
Klopp recognises the similarity between his rebuilding of Liverpool after a tough period in the club’s history, and the work that Arteta is doing with the Arsenal team, although he also believes that the Spaniard’s team is a different proposition to his Reds’ team.
Klopp noted the differences in the teams, while praising Arteta’s Arsenal side ahead of their Premier League encounter.
Klopp said, “They are a different team. Mikel has been building for a few years now and the outcome is pretty impressive. Really good football, top players and good match plans.
Klopp explained what makes Arsenal so fun to watch, saying, “It’s a mix of really good football and extreme emotions. It is a good way to play.”
Klopp praises the show of faith in Arteta
The Liverpool manager also commented on the faith the Arsenal board has shown in Arteta, saying he believes the Gunners’ coach deserved the faith put in him and is showing why he was so trusted.
As a manager who enjoyed and still enjoys the backing of his team’s owners, Klopp said Arteta has justified the faith shown in him.
He said, “I know people ask for time for managers but I really think Mikel deserved each minute he got there when things weren’t going well.
“The team is very well set up, good transfers on top of that but a really stable team. That’s what they’re using now.”
Arsenal and Liverpool will face each other on Sunday with both sides keen to advance their own agendas in the Premier League.
The last time they met, Arsenal won a dramatic game 3-2 at the Emirates and will be hoping they can pull of a similar result at Anfield.
