Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool look set to overtake Manchester United in the chase for the Netherlands forward
Liverpool set to sign Gakpo
According to The Times, Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven have agreed an initial fee of £37 million rising to £50 million for the attacker.
Jurgen Klopp will be excited to get this deal over the line with fixtures coming in thick and fast for the Reds.
Why are Liverpool in for Gakpo
Gakpo is an exceptional talent, an offensive weapon that can operate across the front line. He is having a fine season with PSV, accumulating 12 goals and 14 assists.
The injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have forced Jurgen Klopp to look for alternatives and Gakpo would be an outstanding replacement as well as providing adequate squad depth.
Liverpool won at Aston Villa on Monday to stay sixth in the Premier League and they are now only five points behind the Champions League places after a tough start to the season.
