Liverpool are close to signing Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister after agreeing on a fee which was included in his contract.

The World Cup winner has been a phenomenal figure in De Zerbi’s side helping them qualify for European football next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds and Brighton have reached an agreement in principle over a sum that would pay for the contract clause allowing him to depart which is reported to be less than £60 million.

Klopp confident on Mac Allister deal

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is confident the club will sign Alexis Mac Allister after an agreement was reached between both clubs.

Clubs from all over Europe were interested in the 24-year-old midfielder who made a name for himself at the World Cup in Qatar.

The signing of the World Cup star would be considered a statement signing for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

The plan to rebuild Liverpool’s midfield has begun with the signing of Mac Allister at the early stage of the Transfer window and Klopp is eager to bring more recruitment before the transfer window closes.

Mac Allister’s emotional statement to Brighton

Mac Allister has bid farewell to the team where he first made his reputation in an emotional statement to Brighton supporters and gave a hint that he was going to join another club.

He wrote on Instagram, "It was an honour to represent Brighton & Hove Albion FC in a World Cup but to become the first-ever World Cup winner for this club will be unforgettable (hopefully you will have more), as it will be your welcome after it.

"3 and a half ago, we were fighting for relegation and today, after so much sacrifice, suffering and work, this group will be in the history of this club for becoming the first time this club will play in the Europa League.

"We achieved it all together and that’s why we have to feel very proud. VAMOOOOOS."
