Arne Slot has attributed Liverpool’s Premier League loss to Fulham to one reason.

Arne Slot has dismissed suggestions that complacency was to blame for Liverpool's 3-2 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, which ended their 26-match unbeaten league run.

The Premier League leaders, who remain 11 points clear at the top with seven games to go, paid the price for an error-laden first-half performance.

Alexis Mac Allister gave the Reds an early lead, but Fulham responded with goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz. Luis Diaz pulled one back for the visitors, but their late pressure failed to produce an equaliser.

The loss means the Reds have missed out on becoming the fifth English side to go an entire campaign without losing away from home.

Slot rejected the idea of complacency, stating that Liverpool are not top of the league due to easy wins.

The Dutchman emphasised the effort and quality needed to win each game and mentioned that individual errors left his side with too much to do.

"We are not No. 1 at the moment because we win every game with a margin of three or four goals,” said the Liverpool boss. “Everyone that has seen our games [knows] it takes us so much effort, so much hard work to win games of football, combined with quality of course.

"In general, we are not making many of these errors, let alone three in one game. Today, we also had [Ibrahima] Konate losing the ball too.

"The second half was so much better than the first, but it's hard to win a game of football at this level if you concede three goals like this.

Despite the setback, Liverpool’s third loss in four across all competitions — PSG in the Champions League, Newcastle United in the EFL Cup and Fulham in the league — Slot’s side are still on course to record a second top-flight success in the Premier League era.
