Liverpool's season has reportedly taken a huge blow with goalkeeper Alisson set for a spell on the sidelines
Premier League title contenders Liverpool have been made to sweat over the fitness of first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who suffered a suspected muscular injury against Manchester City.
Alisson suffers injury against Manchester City
Alisson was guilty of a couple of uncharacteristic errors against Manchester City, including a failed clearance that led to the reigning champions’ opening goal against Liverpool, and it is now being rumoured that the Brazilian goalkeeper was struggling with an injury during the match.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper is now believed to have suffered a hamstring injury, which could rule him out of action for several weeks.
Liverpool have now been made to wait for a confirmation of Alisson’s fitness as the season gets to a critical point when the Reds would have relied on the Brazilian stopper.
Liverpool turn to Kelleher and Adrian
Liverpool are currently two points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal and are top of their UEFA Europa League group, but they might be forced to navigate the next few weeks of both competitions without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson.
In the Brazilian’s absence, the Reds could turn to backup goalkeepers Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian to hold the fort while Alisson recovers.
Alisson has had a checkered past with injuries but has managed to stay fit since the 2021/22 season and will be hoping that a layoff due to the recent setback will be brief.
