Ligue 1 star midfielder Khephren Thuram is expected to remain in the French top flight despite interest from Liverpool
OGC Nice star Khephren Thuram is reportedly expected to remain at the Ligue 1 side, despite being subject of interest to a number of clubs since the opening of the transfer window.
The 22-year-old shone with Les Aiglons last season, earning his first French national team call up. Although he was billed to make a big move this summer, he is now said to be more likely to stay.
What happened to Khephren Thuram's move?
According to L'Equipe, the young midfielder who has been courted by Liverpool all summer is closer to remaining in Nice than leaving.
The Ligue 1 side shrugged off interest for the player, with the report stating they planned to hold on to the talent for at least one more season, but will be willing to let him go next summer, with his contract set to expire 2025.
The player himself is said to be willing to stay, and is not expected to force a move. With the European Championships coming next year, Thuram reportedly has his sights set on making the French squad.
According to the report, the player believes he stands a better chance of getting on the plane to Germany if he remains at Nice where is a starter, rather than risking new team dynamics.
There's also a chance that the player could sign a new contract and get a pay rise if he stays beyond the transfer window.
