The Egyptian star was the hero as Liverpool came from behind to beat Brighton

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was the hero for the Reds as they claimed a 2-1 comeback win against Brighton to take the driving seat in the Premier League tite race.

Ex-Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck gave Brighton the lead after only two minutes but goals from Luis Diaz and Salah were enough to help the Reds turn the game around.

How it happened

Liverpool's quest for the Premier League summit encountered an early setback as Danny Welbeck stunned Anfield with a lightning-fast goal, firing Brighton into the lead just 90 seconds into the game.

Catching the Reds napping, the ex-Arsenal striker capitalized on a defensive lapse to find the far corner of the net, putting the early cat amongst the pigeons.

Liverpool responded with fervor, pressing for an equalizer. Mo Salah and Alexis Mac Allister unleashed efforts that narrowly missed the target as the Reds sought to claw their way back into the match. The breakthrough finally arrived just before the half-hour mark when a corner fell to Luis Diaz, who clinically tucked the ball home to restore parity.

Despite relentless pressure from Jurgen Klopp's side, they couldn't find a second goal before halftime. Salah, in particular, squandered several opportunities, guilty of forgetting his shooting boots on the day.

The second half commenced with a more balanced approach from both teams, as cynical fouls disrupted Brighton's attempts to launch counter-attacks. The Seagulls held firm, frustrating Liverpool's advances as they searched for a vulnerability in the visitors' defense.

However, Liverpool's persistence eventually paid off as they unlocked Brighton's defense. Alexis Mac Allister provided a crafty through ball to Mo Salah, who made no mistake with his eighth attempt of the game, finally finding the back of the net and sending Anfield into raptures.

As the final whistle blew, Liverpool emerged victorious with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton, keeping their title hopes alive and setting the stage for a thrilling climax to the Premier League season.
