Southampton have turned down a bid of £37million from Liverpool for 19-year-old midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Liverpool are keen to strengthen their midfield options this summer after a disappointing campaign and have earmarked Lavia as a key part of their rebuild.
Liverpool pushing for Southampton's Lavia
The Reds have seen several midfielders depart over the summer, including Naby Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain — with captain Jordan Henderson set to join former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq.
The Anfield club are also prepared to see Brazil international Fabinho depart for Saudi Arabia but that move appears to be hanging in the balance.
Lavia, 19, will be an excellent addition to Jurgen Klopp's midfield, to join new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai who arrived from RB Leipzig.
