Manchester United have been advised to make a smart acquisition in the summer transfer market to improve Ruben Amorim's squad.

Former Manchester United star Louis Saha has made a surprising plea for the club to bring back Paul Pogba this summer.

Pogba has been without a club since November, after mutually terminating his Juventus contract, and has just completed an 18-month doping ban.

The World Cup-winning midfielder is currently training in Miami, gearing up for a comeback to professional football. Despite being linked to moves to MLS and the Saudi Pro League, the 32-year-old has yet to receive any formal offers.

Saha, who played alongside Pogba during his first stint at Manchester United, believes the Frenchman still has what it takes to make a significant impact at Old Trafford. Speaking to Genting Casino, Saha said:

"I think so. I think that he's still one of a kind. When you look at his quality, when you look at the squad we have in midfield, he's a better player in terms of unpredictability and technical ability."

Saha acknowledges that Pogba's time away from the pitch may have taken a toll on his physical abilities, but believes his confidence and motivation will be back to normal.

"Confidence-wise, he'll be fine. Do we have guarantees about him? We don't, but I'm sure, mentally, he's refreshed.

"He's motivated because he has to prove a point to many. So this is something to play with, and it could be an exciting project.

"Yes, there is baggage, but I think he has probably learned a lot during that time. I would think that's a good gamble."

Pogba could add experience and quality to Ruben Amorim's midfield at Manchester United, especially considering the likes of Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and even youngster Kobbie Mainoo are all expected to depart this summer.
