Fae believes Lookman's performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the UEFA Europa League places him as the frontrunner for the award.

Cote d'Ivoire head coach Emerse Fae has publicly expressed his support for Ademola Lookman to win the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place tonight in Marrakech, Morocco.

Despite Adingra being one of his players, Fae believes Lookman's performances at both the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the UEFA Europa League give him a distinct advantage.

What Fae said

"I wish it’s Adingra because he’s my player, but Ademola Lookman deserves it, he played very well and scored goals at the AFCON and also did well for his club Atalanta, scoring three goals in the Europa League finals," Fae told Ojb Sports.

Lookman's nomination is further boosted by the fact that he was the only African player nominated for this year's Ballon d'Or, eventually placing 14th on the final 30-man shortlist.

Last year's African Best Player award was won by Lookman's compatriot, Victor Osimhen.
