The CAF African Player of the Year Award has been shockingly leaked, with Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi winning the prize instead of Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman.
Lookman and Hakimi were nominated for the CAF POTY award a few months ago and made the final list to battle for the prize.
Atalanta’s star performance last season made him the favourite to win the award for doing the unthinkable in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, putting his name in the history book by scoring a hat trick and winning the trophy for his club.
Hakimi also has a splendid season with Paris Saint-Germain, helping the French side win the Ligue 1 title.

Lookman loses leaked CAF POTY award
According to widely circulated sources in the French, Moroccan, and Egyptian media, Hakimi will be declared the winner of the African Player of the Year award, which will be announced today.
Al Ahly TV claimed that the Moroccan star will beat Nigerian international Lookman, who has been considered the favourite for the award.
A French football publication, Onze Mondial, also echoed the rumours, claiming that unless there is a significant turn of events, Hakimi will likely win the African Footballer of the Year title.
Hakimi celebrated winning a bronze medal with Morocco at the 2024 Olympic Games and played a key role in PSG's progress to the UEFA Champions League semifinals.
With PSG, the 26-year-old won the Trophée des Champions, the Coupe de France, and Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, Lookman also recently lost to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the top Best African Player list.
