Rubiales could be banned for up to 15 years
Rubiales was asked to resign after the Spanish FA made a U-Turn, saying his ‘unacceptable’ behaviour had caused ‘grave harm to the image of Spanish football. The behaviour in question is the alleged kiss between Rubiales and Jenni Hermoso.
According to the Daily Mail, FIFA are pushing for a ban for Rubiales of up to 15 years which is the maximum permitted by their statutes.
In the wake of Spain's World Cup victory over England, Rubiales was given a 90-day interim suspension by FIFA but retained the backing of the Spanish Football Association.
Regardless of the outcome, FIFA are likely to impose a lengthy ban on Rubiales.
