The forward has denied biting his opponent in the closing minutes of Wrexham’s recent league defeat.

Wrexham forward Paul Mullin has denied allegations of biting Birmingham defender Alex Cochrane in Monday’s League One match at St Andrew's.

What happened between Mullin and Cochrane?

The incident occurred in the final 10 minutes after a strong challenge from Cochrane, leading to a heated exchange between the two players.

Mullin, who was substituted into the game, took to social media to clarify the situation, stating that he did not bite the Birmingham player.

“I know what it looks like.. but it didn’t happen, the Englishman posted on X. “Although you can tell his leg was thinking about attacking my mouth.”

Wrexham's co-owner, Ryan Reynolds, also responded to the forward’s explanation, seeing the funny side of the incident.

Cochrane acknowledged the heated exchange but denied any physical altercation from the incident that sparked controversy and debate among fans and commentators.

"I don't really know, to be honest,” the defender said. I was just on the floor. Handbags out of nothing. A load of nonsense, really."

What’s next?

Despite the 3-1 loss, Wrexham remain top of the League One table, albeit having played a game more than Birmingham with both sides tied on 13 points (Charlton also have 13 points).

The Robins return to domestic action when they host Crawley Town on Saturday, September 21.
