Triumph Over Adversity
Reflecting on the match and its significance, Diaz shared his feelings with Sky Sports, as reported by Daily Mail, emphasizing the physical challenge of the game and the team's preparedness for such a high-stakes encounter.
"It was a very tough match and big matches are played this way. It was very physical and we were very tired at the end but we were able to deliver the result and I knew we can make it," Diaz remarked.
The winger's dedication of the title to his parents underscored the personal victory that accompanied the team's success. "I dedicate this title to my mum and dad (who are at Wembley). For everything they went through it makes it so much more special to celebrate this with my family," he added.
The rescue of Diaz's father involved a significant effort, with a humanitarian commission that included the Catholic Church and the UN, and a large search operation backed by a £40,000 reward for information leading to his recovery.
This win marks Diaz's second Carabao Cup victory with Liverpool, having been part of the team that defeated Chelsea in the 2022 final as well.
