Samuel Chukwueze was the architect as UCL champions Real Madrid kicked off preseason with a defeat against AC Milan.

Nigeria's Samuel Chukwueze was the star of the show as AC Milan defeated Champions League winners Real Madrid 1-0 in a pre-season clash at Soldier Field, Chicago.

Chukwueze scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute, latching onto a pass from Mattia Liberali before beating Andriy Lunin at his near post.

The fixture was Paulo Fonseca's third non-competitive match since taking over as Milan manager, following a draw with Rapid Vienna and a 3-2 victory over Manchester City.

Chukwueze's strike came after he had provided a pair of assists in the Rossoneri's thrilling win over Pep Guardiola's City, continuing the wide forward's fine pre-season form.

Milan fans were delighted with Chukwueze's performance, with one supporter declaring the Nigerian 'a nightmare' for Real Madrid, while another called for the 25-year-old to start on the right with Pulisic in the middle.

'He's having a great pre-season. Hopefully, he takes this form into the season and stays consistent,' said one Milan fan, while another simply commented: 'He looks much happier now!'

The victory stretched Milan's unbeaten run in pre-season to three games and will provide a significant boost ahead of the upcoming Serie A campaign.

With an excellent build-up to the campaign under his belt, Samuel Chukwueze has promised to improve his performances for the Rossoneri, for the upcoming season.

A new Chukwueze

After a poor debut season which saw him deliver just six goals contributed in 33 appearances for Milan following his move from Villarreal, the Super Eagles star is working towards an improved season.

But under new manager, Paul Fonseca, the talented Super Eagles winger appears set to enjoy more trust from the dugout in Milan.
