Former Real Madrid star Mutiu Adepoju has urged the Super Eagles to take revenge on Gernot Rohr’s side.
A few months ago, Benin Republic defeated the Super Eagles 2-1 at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny during their World Cup qualifiers.
The loss came as a disappointment for Nigerians, as the result left the Super Eagles in fifth place with just three points.
However, the Super Eagles defeated Gernot Rohr’s side in Uyo during the AFCON qualifiers and will be looking to do the same in Benin.

Mutiu Adepoju expects a win against Benin
According to Mutiu Adepoju, he believes the Super Eagles will defeat Benin in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday.
Adepoju exclusively told Soccernet.ng, “Definitely I’m looking forward to a victory and a good game from the Super Eagles, and I believe they can do it.
“It’s going to be important to win the game. It is important to me, it is important to the players and everyone in Nigeria to win that game because we have to make a bold statement against Benin Republic.
“Number one, to qualify for the AFCON. Then secondly, to make them know that what they did, beating us in June was just by the way. It’s not as if they are superior to Nigeria. The players should show that, so we can be proud.”
Mutiu Adepoju, a former Super Eagles midfielder, has expressed his hopes for the match ahead of time.
According to the former Real Madrid player, Nigeria needs to use the game to make a powerful statement since they have a point to show.
