Harambee Stars will begin their Four Nations tournament with a clash against hosts Malawi on Saturday evening and here is all you need to know about the match.

Kenya will begin their Four Nations campaign with a meeting against hosts Malawi at the Bingu Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday evening.

Preview

Harambee Stars are back to action for the first time since November last year when they took on Gabon and Seychelles in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and after one defeat and win, coach Engin Firat will be keen for a positive result.

Firat goes into the match with a decimated squad with his experienced defenders missing either through injury on disciplinary issues.

Team news

The Harambee Stars boss is without Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma, who is injured, while Aboud Omar was kicked out of camp alongside Eric Johanna, after the two engaged in a fist fight on Wednesday just hours before the team’s departure.

Firat is also not sure about Johnstone Omurwa while he is sweating on the fitness of Daniel Anyembe and Joseph Okumu, leaving him facing the prospect of fielding rookies in defence.

However, he will have to get his tactics and selection spot on against the Flames of Malawi who also won one and lost another of their two World Cup qualifiers in November.

When and where to watch

The match will kick off at 6pm Kenyan time at the Bingu Stadium in Lilongwe and will be televised live on KBC TV.

KBC also beamed live the Rising Stars (Kenya U20) match against Zimbabwe on Friday.

Malawi vs Kenya head-to-head

Kenya and Malawi have faced off eight times down the years with either side winning twice while four matches have ended in draws.

Harambee Stars won the last meeting 1-0 in September 2018, coming after a barren draw in April 2017.

Three matches have ended in goalless draws, another 2-2, while Malawi won 3-0 in October 2005 before a 2-0 victory in November 2011.

Harambee Stars’ first win over the Flames was a 1-0 triumph in December 2012 before a similar result in Nairobi six year later.
