Man United have made an opening bid for Rasmus Hojlund, but Atalanta are holding out for a greater sum and PSG are also interested in the striker.

The Atalanta forward has been on Man United's radar for a long time as they look to sign a striker this summer.

The Red Devils are in the transfer market for a striker after falling short of goals in the 2022/2023 season.

According to reports, United have sent their first verbal proposal to Atalanta with a fee worth £51 million.

United make first bid

Manchester United are said to have launched a bid worth an initial £43 million plus a further £8 million in add-ons.

However, If Hojlund is to be sold this summer, the Italian team is apparently holding out for at least £60 million.

According to Romano Fabrizio on Twitter, “It is understood that Manchester United sent 1st verbal proposal to Atalanta for Rasmus Højlund for €60 million package 🚨🔴.

“The bid structure is €50 million fixed fee plus €10 million add-ons but Atalanta always wanted at least €70 million fee.”

Hojlund only joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz last summer; he still has four years left on his Italian deal.

Nevertheless, United's prospects of signing the 20-year-old striker have been strengthened this week when Atalanta agreed to a contract to sign a replacement. The Danish forward scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for the club last season.
