Ten Hag remains hopeful about the team's future despite criticism from players and fans.

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has joined his former teammate Teddy Sheringham in criticising Erik Ten Hag's management of the club.

In an interview with beIN Sports, Yorke expressed his frustration with the team's current state and questioned their ability to compete for the Premier League title.

"We are a million miles away from winning the Premier League. When talking about the current manager, this was a person to take us forward, and we thought after the first season this was the guy," Yorke stated.

Yorke emphasised the team's lack of identity and poor performance, comparing their current situation to the worst in the Premier League since its inception in 1992.

"Where we are as a football club, the identity in terms of how we play, where we finish, goals conceded, number of goals that we've scored is the worst in our history since the Premier League started in 1992," he said.

Yorke's scathing remarks come after Manchester United's recent defeats to Brighton and Liverpool, which have increased pressure on Ten Hag. While the team secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Southampton in their latest match, Yorke remains unconvinced.

"Winning a cup is great, we've got to keep the trophy cabinet ticking over. But where we are as a football club, the identity in terms of how we play, where we finish, goals conceded, number of goals that we've scored is the worst in our history since the Premier League started in 1992," Yorke added.

Ten Hag, however, remains optimistic about the team's prospects. "We have to win every game and we did today. Sometimes you have to find a way to win," he said after the victory over Southampton.

With mounting criticism from former players and fans, Ten Hag's position at Manchester United is becoming increasingly uncertain.
