The Red Devils are keen to get the wages of two high earners off the club’s books.

Manchester United plan to replace Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in their midfield during the next two transfer windows, as per Give Me Sport

Why Man Utd are willing to let Casemiro and Eriksen leave

According to the report, the club aim to sign younger alternatives capable of contributing to the team's long-term success.

Despite securing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, United's sporting director, Dan Ashworth, is actively searching for additional midfield reinforcements.

The club's ownership, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have already demonstrated a willingness to invest in the team, as evidenced by their significant spending on players like Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, and they seek to improve the Red Devils’ midfield next.

With Casemiro and Eriksen’s combined weekly wages amounting to £500,000, the pair are expected to leave the club at the end of the season to provide some relief for the club's wage bill.

What comes next?

While the Brazilian has been linked with a move to Galatasaray, he is unlikely to leave Old Trafford this summer, and the Dane has expressed a desire to remain in Manchester.

Erik ten Hag’s men face Southampton on September 14 looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses against Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool, with the latter ending 3-0 to Arne Slot's men.
