Manchester United have reportedly rejected West Ham’s loan bid for defender Harry Maguire amid transfer speculations.

The England international is a favourite of Hammers manager Moyes, who considers him to be an improvement over Kurt Zouma.

Maguire is eager to leave Old Trafford after manager Erik ten Hag recently stripped him of his captaincy.

The English international, however, is being held back by United, who are demanding at least £30 million and a permanent transfer.

West Ham have made a move for the defender but offered a loan move for him which was rejected by the Red Devils.

West Ham wants Maguire

Following the £105 million sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal, West Ham now has money to spend, and they plan to use some of it to acquire Harry Maguire from Manchester United.

Manchester United are asking for a permanent transfer for their defender according to the Sun but West Ham are looking for a loan deal.

If both teams are to reach an agreement, Maguire's £200,000-a-week wages could prove an issue for West Ham.

However,  the former Leicester defender is likely to take a cut if he decides to leave Old Trafford this summer.

West Ham are also making moves on other potential targets and are also in negotiation for Joao Palhinha who they see as a good replacement for Declan Rice.

Maguire speaks about being stripped of Man United captaincy

Maguire opened up on losing the captaincy in an emotional post yesterday as reported by the Sun.

He said, "After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain.

"He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.

"So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband.

"Since the day I took on the role, three and half years ago, it’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date.

"It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful - on and off the field.

"I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support."
