Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton to extend their poor run to just one win in the last 6 league games.

Ruben Amorim's Manchester United side were brought back down to earth by an all-action Brighton side at Old Trafford.

After their comeback win against Southampton in midweek, the expectation was for United to build on that result, and they failed spectacularly.

Brighton started on the front foot and were rewarded with an early lead through Yankuba Minteh, who scored from Mitoma's cross in the fifth minute.

United equalized through Bruno Fernandes' penalty after Joshua Zirkzee was fouled by Carlos Baleba.

However, Brighton regained the lead in the 60th minute when Mitoma turned in Minteh's cross, becoming the top-scoring Japanese player in Premier League history.

The visitors sealed the win in the 76th minute when André Onana's goalkeeping error allowed Giorgino Rutter to score into an empty net.

The defeat leaves United 13th in the league, while Brighton's back-to-back league wins lifts them to ninth, within touching distance of European qualification.
