Manchester United secured third spot in the Premier League this season after securing a final day victory over Fulham.

Manchester United ended their 2022/2023 Premier League season on a high after beating Fulham 2-1 in their final match of the season at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Kenny Tete put Fulham ahead, but goals from Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes sealed a comeback win for the Red Devils.

How it happened

There was nothing at stake going into the match for both teams, although Man Utd needed to win to secure third place.

The Red Devils started poorly, with Fulham dominating early possession, showing their attacking intent right from the start.

Man Utd would pay for their poor start as Kenny Tete put Fulham ahead with a brilliant header in the 19th minute.

Moments later, Marco Silva’s men had the chance to double their advantage after they were awarded penalty.

However, Aleksandar Mitrovic fluffed his lines from 12 yards, as David de Gea saved his spot-kick.

The miss would prove to be costly as Man Utd took control of the game from that moment onwards.

Alejandro Garnacho came close twice, while Fernandes also hit the post. The pressure would eventually pay off as Sancho pulled the home side level with a great finish.

Bruno Fernandes seals it for United

Sancho’s goal ensured Man Utd went into the break with the scores level. Erik Ten Hag’s men started the second half with more intent, and it paid off after ten minutes, as Fernandes put them ahead with a delicate chip following a brilliant pass from Fred.

Fulham tried to respond, but it was the Red Devils who came close to extending their lead on numerous occasions.

The win ensured Man Utd finished third on the log ahead of Newcastle, who played a draw against Chelsea.
