English champions Manchester City seems not to have learnt from the past after another talented youngster is set for the exit door.
Premier League winners Manchester City are on the verge of losing another talented academy graduate to Germany and the Bundesliga.
According to the reliable Italian transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, German club, Bayer Leverkusen has reached an agreement with City for the transfer of their youngster, Sam Edozie.
The 19-year-old is expected to put pen to paper on a two-year deal that will see him join Bayer until the summer of 2024.
Edozie’s move to the Bundesliga will see the young English boy become the latest star to leave City for German.
Manchester United star, Jadon Sancho, who is represented and managed by a Nigerian agent, left City in search of greener pastures in the Bundesliga.
The then 18-year-old joined Borussia Dortmund before returning to the PL in a 73m move to City’s rivals and neighbours, United.
Edozie is highly-rated at City
Alongside Cole Palmer, Edozie is highly regarded within Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola speaking glowing about the duo.
Edozie was amongst those who featured in the community shield ahead of the 2021/22 season.
The courage of the young guys (Sam and Cole) and the control we had - they only had long balls in the second half," Guardiola said after the community shield.
They are important players. What I like about them, - Cole was exceptional all game - but when they lost one ball, they tried and tried again," he added.
Edozie had a good season for the academy despite the fact he was reduced to just 12 appearances by injuries following his impressive performance in the shield.
Known for his pace and tricky, the winger only managed just two goals for the academy. But with a move to Germany on the cards, he could go on to follow in the footsteps of Sancho and Jude Bellingham, who joined the Bundesliga properly kickoff their careers.
