The Red Devils triumphed over Real Betis but the celebrations will be low-key as they added two more players to their infirmary list

Manchester United returned to winning ways after their defeat to Arsenal on open play, thanks to a 3-2 victory over LALIGA side Real Betis.

The Red Devils have had a stuttering run in pre-season. Their campaign started with a defeat to Rosenberg, but then they followed it up with a victory over Rangers.

The next match was the defeat to Arsenal, which they have now followed with a triumph over Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, USA.

Key match actions

Real Betis had the better of the opening exchanges and rightfully got the lead in the 15th minute, thanks to a strike from 22-year-old Iker Losada.

The Red Devils roared back three minutes later from the penalty spot after Amad Diallo got a fortunate call from the referee. Marcus Rashford stepped up to the plate and dispatched his attempt with aplomb.

The goal seemed to demoralise Betis, who otherwise started the game commendably. They ceded control to Manchester United, and what followed was a barrage of attacks.

The Red Devils eventually went ahead for the first time in the game around the 24th-minute mark thanks to a bullet strike from Amad. The third goal came at the half-hour mark when Casemiro poached a loose ball in the box and guided it home.

The Red Devils had chances to extend their lead further, but it was Betis who scored the next goal in the game after a rare sustained wave of pressure. New signing Diego Llorente was left unmarked in the box and he headed past Tom Heaton to cut the deficit.

Manchester United held on to the result and will now prepare to play Liverpool in their final pre-season game before the Community Shield clash against crosstown rivals Manchester City.

Meanwhile, before the match, the Red Devils confirmed long-term injuries to Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund. They suffered more casualties during the match against Real Betis, with Rashford and Antony going off injured.
