This list was put together by the CIES Football Observatory in their latest edition and issue.
Manchester United: Big Spenders
According to the CIES report, the list was put together taking into account transfer fees, including add-ons and paying loans of players currently at the clubs.

A total of 100 clubs made the list with the Red Devils at the top as one of five clubs that have spent over one billion euros.
A breakdown shows United have spent 383 million euros on defenders, the most in the world, 296 million euros on midfielders, 411 million euros on forwards and 61 million euros on goalkeepers.

Premier League rivals Chelsea are second, with Manchester City in third while Arsenal, who are fifth, complete the top five of the biggest spenders.
Others
In terms of investments per position, apart from United leading the pack in defence, bitter rivals Liverpool have spent the most on goalkeepers.

The Merseysiders have spent 73 million euros on goalkeepers while Real Madrid lead for midfielders with 447 million euros while PSG’s 557 million euros is the market leader for attackers.
Outside the top five leagues, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal set the pace with over 382 million euros, which puts them 18th on the overall table.

Relegated Leicester City are next with 281 million euros, with Ajax’s 236 million euros placing them in the top three of biggest spenders outside the top five.
