South African Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns, to which Kenyan defender Brian Mandela is signed, have appointed Mathias Zangenberg as their new Head of Physical Performance.
The Danish expert was announced as the new conditioning coach on Thursday as they prepare for their CAF Champions League quarter-finals against CR Belouizdad.
Zangenberg previously worked for the Ghana national team, serving as the Athletic Coach during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Before moving to the Black Stars, Zangenberg worked for Denmark SuperLiga outfit Aarhus Gymnastikforening.
He was previously in charge of FC Nordsjælland, where he was part of the backroom staff that steered the team in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League competitions.

Two Kenyans are currently plying their trade in the Oman Professional League.
Zangenberg holds a UEFA A coaching license and is a Masters' graduate specializing in human physiology.
At Masandawana, he will be responsible for aligning the physical training methodology of the senior men's, women's, and academy teams.
"His knowledge, experience and work ethic will assist in getting the first team to the next level and to make a clear strategy for physical training and injury prevention throughout the entire club," Mamelodi Sundowns' Sporting Director, Flemming Berg told the club website.

The defender picked up his third successive league title with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Zangenberg becomes the latest addition to the technical bench following the recent appointment of Michael Loftman, who was named as the new set piece coach in February.
The UK-born coach, Loftman, is a UEFA license holder, which he obtained from the English FA.
He also has a sports science and coaching master's degree from Brunel University and had previously worked at Orlando Pirates, where he was a performance analyst and reserve team coach.
