Ideye recently signed with Enyimba until the end of the 2024/25 season, joining Musa and Shehu (both at Kano Pillars) as Super Eagles alumni who have returned to the domestic league this season.

Ideye will wear number 34 at the club.

The 36-year-old made his NPFL return as a second-half substitute in Enyimba's 0-0 draw against Bendel Insurance on Tuesday.

His last appearance in the Nigerian top flight was in 2006 for Ocean Boys before he represented the country at the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada.

"I feel like a player like me coming back is something good. I received a lot of messages from other players playing abroad, those who are looking forward to being part of this," Ideye revealed after his debut via Punch

He continued, "I have a lot of their messages on Instagram. They will like to come and we just have to give everyone their respect and support to improve the league and make it a homecoming. A lot of players in Europe are not doing well, they want to come back home."

Enyimba currently sit ninth on the league table with the draw against Bendel Insurance extending their winless streak to 13 games across all competitions but it is expected that the addition of a forward like Ideye will improve their fortunes.
