Marcelo is just one game away from helping his team avoid the automatic relegation playoff place, while Timothy Ouma is 90 minutes away from winning a league title with IF Elfsborg.

Harambee Stars left-back Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma featured as 2018 Allsveskan champions AIK were held to a 1-1 draw by IFK Goteborg on Monday night.

Ouma clocked 90 minutes under his best, making six tackles and interceptions. He won six of his 12 ground duels, underpinning his general assurance defensively.

In possession, he dribbled two out of four times successfully and passed the ball accurately 34 times from 44 attempts. His heat map also showed that he attempted to give the side width from the left flank trying to influence the game moving forward.

He did get himself booked in the 69th minute for a cynical challenge on an opponent.

Goteborg opened the scoring in the 30th minute thanks to an unfortunate own goal by Sotirios Papagiannopoulos, which was enough to keep the score ticking in their favour at the interval.

The second half proved to be fiery and heated, with the referee dishing out six yellow cards, including one for Marcelo.

AIK would, however, equalise in the 67th minute through Taya Ayari, who got on the end of a wonderfully crafted Mads Thychosen assist to level the tie.

In the end, both sides would have to settle for a point, and it now means that AIK have virtually secured safety, but will need to beat Varnamo next week to fully guarantee themselves a place in the Allsvenskan for next season.

In another league match, Timothy ‘Babu’ Ouma did not feature as IF Elfsborg were held by Degerfors 2-2.

Seid Korac opened the scoring for Degerfors in the 39th minute, but Sebastian Horen equalised just before the hour mark.

Peter Gwargic made it two for Degerfors, but Elfsborg refused to be beaten, leveling the tie in the 90th minute through Noah Sodeberg.

Elfsborg are first on 64 points, one ahead of second placed Malmo on 61 points with a game to spare.
